El Vive Paint & Sheetrock has been painting Northern Nevada homes for more than 20 years. From a single bedroom to a full exterior repaint, we use coatings chosen specifically for high-desert UV and freeze-thaw cycles — so your color still looks right five summers from now, not two. No project minimums. Free on-site estimates throughout Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County.

We handle every part of a residential paint job in-house. Because El Vive holds both a Nevada painting license and a Nevada drywall license, the same crew that patches your walls is the crew that paints them — there is no second contractor to schedule and no finger-pointing when something needs to be fixed. Whether you need one room refreshed or a full exterior redone, the work is done by people who have been finishing homes in this valley for two decades.
Bedrooms, living areas, hallways, ceilings, trim, doors, and full-home repaints. We move and cover your furniture, mask every edge, and cut clean lines by hand where a sprayer will not reach. Floors are protected and the site is cleaned at the end of every day, not just at the end of the job. Low-VOC and zero-VOC paints are available if you have children, pets, or sensitivities — just ask during your estimate.
Full exterior repaints using high-solid acrylic coatings rated for the UV load at Reno’s elevation. Every job includes pressure washing, scraping and sanding any failing paint, spot-priming bare wood and stucco, and caulking every gap where water could get behind your siding. Prep is roughly seventy percent of the labor on a good exterior job, and it is the entire difference between paint that lasts a decade and paint that fails in three summers.
Kitchen and bathroom cabinet refinishing at a fraction of the cost of replacement. Doors and drawer fronts come off and are sprayed off the frame so you get a smooth, factory-grade finish with no brush marks. Boxes are degreased, sanded, and primed in place. Hardware is removed and reinstalled. Most kitchens are finished within a week, and you keep the layout you already have.
Nail pops, seam cracks, corner bead damage, doorknob holes, and water-stained board. We cut out the damage, replace the board where needed, tape, float, and then match your existing texture so the repair disappears under paint rather than announcing itself. Northern Nevada’s expansive clay soils move houses more than most homeowners expect, so seam cracking here is normal and entirely fixable.
Knockdown, orange peel, skip trowel, hand-troweled, and smooth finishes matched to what is already on your walls and ceilings. Texture matching is the skill that separates an invisible repair from an obvious patch, and it is the step most general handymen get wrong. We match it before we paint it.
Hairline cracks, spalling, and impact damage repaired and sealed. On a stucco home in this climate, small cracks are not cosmetic — they are the entry point that lets snowmelt and driven rain reach your framing and sheathing. Sealing them early is inexpensive. Waiting until there is interior water damage is not. We color-match and texture-match the repair, then seal or paint it.
Full removal of wallpaper, borders, and adhesive residue, followed by wall skim coating and repaint. Old wallpaper often hides damaged or unprimed drywall underneath, so we prep the surface properly rather than painting over problems. We handle the mess and haul it out.
Decks, fences, pergolas, railings, shutters, and exterior trim. We clean, brighten, and repair the wood first, then apply penetrating stains and sealers rated for high-UV exposure. Northern Nevada sun and dry air are hard on untreated wood — staining on a regular cycle adds years of life and costs a fraction of replacing boards.
Paint that performs perfectly in a coastal or Midwestern climate can fail in Reno within a few seasons. If a previous paint job on your home chalked, cracked, or peeled far sooner than you expected, it is almost never bad luck. It is usually the wrong product, inadequate prep, or application in the wrong conditions. Here is what our climate actually does to a coated surface.
Reno sits at roughly 4,500 feet with well over 250 sunny days a year. Ultraviolet intensity climbs measurably with elevation, and UV is what breaks down the resin binding pigment to your siding. South- and west-facing walls take the worst of it. We specify high-solid acrylic coatings with UV-stable resins and pigments rather than budget contractor-grade paint, because the cheaper product does not survive here.
Northern Nevada regularly swings forty degrees or more between a winter afternoon and the following morning. Every one of those cycles expands and contracts your siding, trim, and stucco. A rigid coating cracks under that movement; a flexible one moves with it. On stucco and masonry we use elastomeric or highly flexible acrylic systems for exactly this reason.
Our dry air makes paint flash off far faster than the manufacturer’s data sheet assumes. Applied carelessly, that produces lap marks, poor leveling, and a film that never fully coalesces — which then fails early. We adjust application technique, work in the correct part of the day, and follow recoat windows against actual conditions instead of the label.
Washoe County wind carries fine grit that embeds in a wet coating and creates a rough, contaminated surface that traps moisture. We watch the forecast and schedule exterior work around wind events rather than pushing through them.
Much of the Truckee Meadows sits on soils that swell when wet and shrink when dry. That movement transmits up through the foundation and shows as recurring drywall seam cracks and stucco cracking. It is why we texture-match and re-seal rather than simply skimming over a crack — a patch that ignores the underlying movement will reopen.
We come to the property, measure, look at the actual condition of your surfaces, and give you a written, itemized price. No obligation, no pressure, and no ballpark guesses over the phone — a real number requires seeing the work.
We confirm colors, sheens, and a start date, and we walk you through what will happen each day. You will know which rooms are affected when, and where our crew will be.
Washing, scraping, sanding, patching, priming, and caulking. This is the majority of the labor and it is not optional. Everything that is not being painted is masked or covered.
Premium coatings applied to manufacturer specification, in appropriate temperature and wind conditions, with the correct number of coats. Not “one coat if it looks fine.”
We walk the finished work with you and fix anything you flag before we call the job complete. Then we clean up and haul everything out. Learn more about our commercial painting and industrial coatings services.

Daniel Morales leads El Vive’s painting and drywall division and has spent more than 20 years finishing homes across Northern Nevada. He handles residential repaints, cabinet refinishing, drywall and texture repair, and stucco work — and he is on site for the jobs he runs, not managing them from a truck across town.
Daniel holds Nevada C-4A Painting and C-4E Drywall licenses under El Vive Construction Company Inc, license #0092953. Every project is bonded and insured, and you can verify the license directly with the Nevada State Contractors Board.
El Vive Construction Company Inc has operated in Northern Nevada for more than 20 years under multiple active Nevada State Contractors Board licenses. Our painting and drywall work is performed under license #0092953, covering C-4A Painting and C-4E Drywall classifications. We carry full bonding and liability insurance, and we will provide certificates on request before work begins. Anyone can claim they are licensed — you are entitled to verify it, and we make that easy.
Exterior repaint pricing in the Reno-Sparks area depends on square footage, number of stories, siding material, the condition of the existing paint, and how much prep and repair is required before a brush touches the wall. A home with sound paint needing a color change costs meaningfully less than one with widespread peeling and rotted trim. We give free on-site estimates with written, itemized pricing so you can see exactly what you are paying for. We do not give ballpark numbers over the phone, because a number given without seeing the work is a number that changes later.
High-solid acrylic latex with UV-stable resins for siding and trim, and elastomeric or highly flexible acrylic systems for stucco and masonry. Reno’s combination of high-altitude UV and hard freeze-thaw cycling destroys standard builder-grade paint far faster than most homeowners expect. Product selection matters here more than it does at sea level.
Late spring through early fall. Most exterior coatings require surface temperatures above roughly 50°F during application and need overnight lows to stay above the manufacturer’s minimum while curing. Painting too late in the season is one of the most common causes of early failure in Northern Nevada. Interior work runs year-round.
Most single-family homes in the Reno-Sparks area take three to five working days. Larger homes, two-story homes, and homes needing significant carpentry or stucco repair take longer. Weather and wind can add a day. We give you a realistic schedule at the estimate rather than an optimistic one.
Yes. We remove doors and drawer fronts and spray them off the frame for a smooth factory-grade finish, degrease and sand the boxes in place, and reinstall hardware when the finish has cured. Most kitchens are complete within a week, and refinishing typically costs a fraction of replacement.
Yes, and we do it in-house. El Vive holds a Nevada C-4E Drywall license alongside the painting license, so patching, taping, floating, and texture matching are handled by the same crew that paints. You are not coordinating two contractors or waiting on someone else’s schedule.
Yes, and we repair the stucco first. Sealing cracks before painting is what keeps snowmelt and driven rain out of your framing. Painting over an unsealed crack hides a problem instead of fixing one.
No. We take single rooms, accent walls, touch-ups, and small repairs as readily as full-home repaints. A lot of contractors will not return a call for a small job. We will.

Yes. Knockdown, orange peel, skip trowel, hand-troweled, and smooth finishes are all matched to what is already on your walls. Texture matching is the step that determines whether a repair is invisible or obvious, and it is the part most general handymen skip.
